The back catalogue of Abba, one of the most successful bands ever, combined with a great original story set on a Greek Island, Mamma Mia! is a great night out guaranteed to leave you wanting more and it now at the Novello Theatre on the Aldwych.

Hotel and Mamma Mia! Theatre Packages

Book Mamma Mia! Tickets and Meal Deals

Like any bride, our heroine wants her dad to give her away. But who is her father? On the day before the wedding three men arrive in a small Greek village not knowing why or by whom they have been invited – but something must have bought them there!!

Enjoy the songs of ABBA whilst you watch Sophie Sheridan, the gal who is just about to get hitched, and her mother, Donna, who has to deal with three ex-boyfriends turning up out of the blue!

It really is a super dooper London Theatre Package!

What the Mamma Mia Critics Say

“A glorious evening of fun!” – Daily Mail.
“The perfect ticket for a feel-good night out!” – Daily Telegraph

Hotels and Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia! is at the Novello Theatre on the Aldwych. As such there are some great nearby hotels but it is really easy to get to from anywhere in London, so you don’t have to pay West End prices if you don’t want to!

If you do want to be a short walk from the theatre then the 4* Kingsway Hall is nearby. The 4 star Strand Palace Hotel is also close although it is not as good a deal as when it was a three star hotel. For Five star comfort there is the Waldorf or the newly refurbished Savoy!

Further afield, or if you want to be mainly in another part of London and then just come into Theatreland for the evening, any hotel on the Piccadilly Line would be within easy access and access to the Northern Line and Bakerloo lines is a short walk down the Strand to Charing Cross Tube Station so there really is lots to chose from. Look at Kensington with its world famous musuems as a great (and slightly cheaper) area to stay.

Book your Mamma Mia! theatre break – the closest thing to a London theatre break on a Greek Isle!

Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, with original songs from comedian Tim Minchin, Matilda is the captivating new musical masterpiece from the RSC that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dares to change her destiny.

Matilda The Musical music and lyrics by award-winning musician and comedian Tim Minchin are current, naughty and instantly memorable.

Matilda The Musical Theatre Packages

Nearest Hotel: The excellent Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street Hotel is opposite. You can stay in other hotels but you will leave the theatre thinking “Oh I wish we were staying there!” It is 4 star and quite expensive but look out for it when booking – you might be able to stretch to it.

If it is full then look at the Kingsway Hall, if it is too expensive then think about the St Giles or the Strand Palace: all are walking distance.

Look for hotels in Bayswater or Kensington if walking to the theatre isn’t important – even with having to buy a tube or bus ticket they still save you money.

If you are coming down to London in a bigger group then stay at the Holiday Inn Kings Cross. A lovely big hotel with great facilities and rooms for families of up to 2 adults and 2 children.

Address: Seven Dials, London

Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation of Susan Hill’s novel is one of London’s biggest dramatic hits of recent years. Although it doesn’t command the secrecy that The Moustrap does it still manages to be the most surprisingly scary plays of all time.

If you are looking for something other than the usual fayre of West End musicals and comedies and want a production with a little more oomph behind it, then Theatre Packages highly recommend The Woman In Black.

Book a Woman in Black hotel and Theatre package

Book Woman in Black meal and ticket packages

A lawyer is obsessed with the belief that his family has been cursed by a Woman in Black – in an attempt to exorcise the evil, he employs a skeptical young actor to help recount his experiences, but then as the story unfolds, the boundary between reality and memory begin to merge. This nail-biting adaptation combines the power and intensity of live theatre with a cinematic quality inspired by the world of film noir where you’ll be transported into a terrifying and ghostly world.

The Woman In Black Performances

Midweek and matinee performances enjoy huge popularity with school groups, so Friday or Saturday evening performances are the time to go for a more sophisticated audience, and a more usual West End theatrical experience (although they will still scream – you will all at least jump!) because, “usual” is not a word to describe this stunning thriller. With few props and basic scenery, the minimal cast create a peice of theatre that is every bit as gripping as the finest movies or books of the genre – in fact every bit as gripping as the recently made movie of the same book – some would say more so:

“A truly nerve-shredding experience” – Daily Mail
“Don’t go unless you like being scared out of your wits” – Sunday Mirror

Show File

Genre: Thriller
Writers: Stephen Mallatratt from Susan Hill’s novel
Theatre: Fortune Theatre, Russell St, WC2B 5HH, London

The Woman in Black Performance Times

Evenings: Monday to Saturday 20:00
Matinees: Tuesdays 15:00 & Saturdays 16:00

Rock of Ages Storyline

“In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA’s most famous rock club and they….”

and that is about it really! It’s great fun, got lots of old 80′s rock anthems and tackles its story line with its tongue firmly wedged in its cheek – but high drama it is not: and it is all the better for it!

The Travelodge Covent Garden – great prices if you are just looking for somewhere to lay your head or the 3 star St Giles Hotel on the corner of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road with its excellent leisure facilities are the two budget theatre break options nearby, otherwise the Radisson Blu Edwardian Leicester Square is just across the road, as is the 5 star Hampshire.

Chariots of Fire is a true story and is set during the Paris Olympics Games of 1924, following two track athletes Eric Liddell, a committed Scottish Christian and Harold Abrahams, an English Jew, as circumstances beyond their control add controversy to the race as they find themselves not just competing against each other – in their bids to become the world’s quickest runner and win Olympic gold.

Award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett‘s new adaptation was inspired by Colin Welland‘s original screenplay and the play will even feature that music.

Jack Lowden, who last year starred as the lead character, Cammy, in the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of the Olivier Award-winning play Black Watch, plays Liddell while James McArdle takes the role of Abrahams. Most recently McArdle starred in the RSC’s The Heart of Robin Hood in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

This is no mere puppet show. The “horses” come alive as you watch them interact with each other and the other actors on the stage, to make you believe they are real flesh and blood.

Book an Hotel and War Horse Theatre package in London

The story of War Horse is about a young boy’s journey to find his beloved horse after it is sold to the army at the outbreak of WWI. It is the “extraordinary odyssey” that both boy and horse make, leading to their reunion, along with the sublime puppetry of the ensemble, that makes this play unlike any other in London at the moment.

Hotels for War Horse Theatre Packages

War Horse is on at the New London Theatre on Drury Lane. Nearest tube stations if you need to travel to the theatre are Covent Garden and Holborn on the Piccadilly London making Kensington and Earls Court hotels easily accessible if you don’t want to be right in the centre.

If however you want to stay in theatreland and walk to and from your hotel there is a wide range of options.

The Covent Garden Travelodge is closest to War Horse, just at the opposite end of Drury Lane to Covent Garden. It is a basic 3 star hotel and great if you just want somewhere to lay your head – a great location! Moving up the scale the 4 star Kingsway Hall Hotel is also just round the corner – head towards Covent Garden then take a left just before you get to Long Acre – this hotel is well worth looking out – nice restaurant too but it is usually pretty empty for pre-theatre dining.

Other hotels with a short walk include the Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street on Seven Dials which is an high-end 4 star hotel (and Seven Dials is a lovely little area – Matilda is at the Cambridge Theatre there). Alternatively you could head the other side of Covent Garden for the Strand Palace Hotel (half way between a three and a four star hotel) opposite the distinctly 5 star Savoy Hotel. The Waldorf is also nearby on the Aldwych.

Pre-Theatre Dining

Look out for he unique setting of Sarastro or the healthy eating of the Wild Food Cafe or Food For Thought. Jamie’s Italian (as in Jamie Oliver) is busy but worth a visit too.

Check out this article on more healthy restaurants in London’s theatreland.
